NAME THAT STATE
NAME THAT STATE (NTS) is a geography program intended for use
by middle grade school students. However it is useful for anyone
wanting to learn the geography of our nation. It is programmed
to run with EGA/VGA monitor. It may reside on floppy disk or
hard disk.
Learn, then test your knowledge about the United States and it's
capitals, when they came into the union, what is their nickname
and why are they called that. It is completely 'menu driven' and has
four (4) modes of operation:
1) Study states - The states are displayed in alphabetical order
showing the state capital, date in union, state nickname and
how the nickname came to be, and a piece of trivia about the state.
User Keys:
Space Bar - Next State
Backspace - Previous State
End ------- Goto Main Menu
ESC ------- Exit NTS
Ctrl X ---- Exit NTS
2) Test on states - A state is highlighted on the US map, and then
displayed on an inset. The user is then asked to select which
state this is from a multiple choice of four. The states are
displayed randomly as is the multiple choice. This state can be
put back in the shuffle if desired. If the answer is correct,
the state is removed from the shuffle and painted green on the
US map. A right/wrong score is is then displayed. If the answer
is wrong, the state is removed from shuffle and saved for review
after all 50 states have been presented. In either case the data
on each state is displayed when the answer is given
(ie: capital,date in union, etc...).
User Keys:
1,2,3 or 4 - Answer choice
Space Bar -- Next State or Skip this state for now
End -------- Goto Main Menu
ESC -------- Exit NTS
Ctrl X ----- Exit NTS
3) Test on capitals - Same as 'Test on states' mode except the
multiple choice is of four (4) different cities.
User Keys:

Ctrl X ----- Exit NTS
